Click 'File,' 'Options,' 'Locations' and 'VST Plugins.' Then click the 'Add' button. Browse for the location of the folder containing the VST instrument or effect you just installed, then click 'OK.' Studio One will then scan the folder location for VST plugins, adding it to its database.

  • Under 'Preferences', select the 'File Folder' menu. Click the 'Browse' button next to 'VST Plug-In Custom Folder'. Select the folder you would like Ableton to use for VST Plug-Ins. Confirm that the 'Use VST Plug-In Custom Folder' option is turned on, and the file path listed under 'VST Plug-In Custom Folder' leads to the folder you just selected.
  • John, It was a bit issue of Cubase LE 5 is 32 bit and I was trying to use 64 bit VST Plugins. When I went to old laptop(32bit) it all still worked with Pro Tools Express. I am upgrading to Cubase 7.7 Artist at 64bit and will install all my toontrack plugins at 64 bit as well.
  • If the plugin is found, set the path to the folder where the 'plugin name.dll' file is located as the VST plugins extra search folder, or the folder above it if the plugin is a.
  • FL Studio searches its own installation folder for samples/plugins and then the Browser extra search folders for audio & VST plugins extra search folder for VST plugins. If you have no idea where the samples or plugins are, while your hard-drive is still spinning there is hope.

Hello all. Ive spent a good portion of a few evenings trying to get this to work....guitar rig 4 in studio One 2.
Ok. So, I'm no expert but I'm not a noob. I had this running on my laptop and recorded a whole album with studio one 2 and guitar rig 4.....but that was on windows 8.1.
So, hard drive crashed and I got a new one and installed windows 10. Sudio one works and so does guitar rig as stand alone.
However, Guitar rig will not work inside studio one as a plug in.
So, why am I here? Well Ive watched the tutorials and attempted to add it within the options menu on studio one and I've also added the dll files in the plug ins folder.
PS i'm running 64 bit
What Ive noticed is that in the studio one folder there isn't a vst plugin folder...just a basic plug in folder or 3rd party folder.
I suspect this is the culprit but I can't find it. I've uploaded the program from disc and from the presonus website numerous times all with no luck.
I'm sorry if this has been posted, answered, or addressed. I'm also sorry if its in the wrong section. But really I'm out of patience and ideas. I need help.
Thanks

You probably already know about specifying where Studio One scans for VST's & plugins. But still, I might as well ask, what folder did you put the .dll in? Did you specify a location, or just use the default location where the installer put it?
Atari 5200, 64K RAM S1PRO Radio Shack Cassette Recorder w/internal Mic, and too many plugins.

Thanks for the reply. I put the dll in the 'Plugins' folder in studio one. As I typed above there is no VST folder, only a generic 'plugin' folder. I thought I remembered there being a specific vst folder with studio one when I had it working on windows 8.1. I also think I saw in one of the various youtube videos them putting the dll in a vst folder. I do not have one for some reason.
I also tried putting it in a party called '3rd party'
So here have been my tries....
Putting the dll in the 'Plugin' folder.
Putting dll in the 3rd party folder
Putting the dll in both folders
putting the entire guitar rig vst folder in each of the those 3 options
I have also tried using the load option within studio one itself numerous times. Moreover I have tried doing that with all the of the above combinations as well.
When I try using the studio one loader I click apply and the box just darkens and nothing happens for minutes and minutes on end. I have to just click ok to get out of there.

I have studio one artist 2. according to this link it says it does not support third party vst.
But it did before. I can give a link to the songs all recorded on this very same program downloaded from this website. Same soundcard same laptop no hardware changes except hard drive swap. only difference is operating system change. computer specs are irrelevant to this situation.
Did they change it?
Edit: I'm going to assume somehow between the time I originally installed studio one artist from the installer disc bundled with the audiobox 22vsl...and the upgrade to studio one 2 artist....to now, third party vst support was removed. I originally installed them probably two or three years ago. That's a bummer because I liked it for the most part.
